The Catalpa swinging bridge in northern Johnson County was well-known by many intrepid Arkansans and has undergone rebuilding after having been washed away in years past. A structure that spanned the Mulberry River between the towns of Oark and Catalpa, the bridge became just as much as a local attraction as the nearby Catalpa Cafe and historic Ozark Cafe.
The bridge, which was originally constructed sometime in either the s or s, washed out in December after having been reconstructed in Private owners built the bridge and are currently seeking funds to rebuild the bridge once again. Those who have enjoyed the thrill of crossing this intimidating path will surely want to see it and brave it once more. A drive to rebuild the Catalpa swinging bridge is ongoing.
With the effort of all explorers who have dared to cross the bridge and the help of potential visitors who have yet to have the experience, the structure will once again be restored. The cause is a worthy one, too. Posted in Arkansas Attractions March 18, by Tiffany.
