We were traveling across America from Michigan to California, and needed some lunch after filling the tank at a nearby gas station. My son was the Internet restaurant guru on the trip, and recommended the shop simply because "Super Tortas" was the first part of the name. We stopped by.
We ended up eating inside because 1 no one else was, and 2 they had a salsa bar. The salsa bar is the sine qua non of a great low-budget Mexican dining experience, and Super Tortas had a salsa that we loved and couldn't puzzle out. Herbaceous yet savory, delicious and different. The food itself was what you'd expect from dining at your Mexican grandmother's place if you were a gringo, but well done and reasonably priced.
But the salsa! Stop by. Get a torta. You won't be disappointed. Their breakfast lunch and dinner menus has recipes that mom would be proud of! They have a kids menu for each meal, pancake breakfast amongst many other choices lunch combos, dinner plates and the 4ct lunch tacos have a choice of 11 fillings!
Called in an order to go and was very specific that 2 items could not have beans. Showed up as they were finishing the order and overheard the waitress remind the cook about the 2 special items. The cooks mutters "oh, i didn't see that.
It will take too long. The cook then informs me she is out of meat so she can't remake them. Obviously had zero concern for her mistake. No refund or apology offered. And the kicker is, there was only 1 table even in the restaurant and they were completely done. We moved to Rock Springs inand shortly after arriving, found this to be our Saturday morning breakfast spot.
Burritos are yummy, food is always fresh, and the staff is friendly. Typically the wait is short and the staff is very accommodating to in-restaurant and to-go orders.
Would highly recommend it to anyone! This place is great they have all kinds of options they serve food you would find in Chihuahua Mexico which is where the owners are from! There salsas are made fresh they have so many options they are spicy too which I love! They serve breakfast too I highly recommend the eggs and chorizo plate or the burrito both delicious for dinner or lunch all the plates are delicious the Chile Rellno is my favorite!!
