Sonja Wolford was born and raised in Sacramento, California.
She attended the University of California, Davis where she received a dual degree in English and Sociology with emphasis on Law and Society. Kennedy University. Sonja hopes to one day be an attorney helping minorities fight racial injustice and social inequality. In her free time, Sonja loves to travel the world, shop, and read; just to name a few, as well as considers herself a food expert.
Sonja is extremely excited about her new role as co-President and is looking forward to the growth of the Black Girls Social Club sisterhood in the Sacramento area. Sonja firmly believes that black women can come together and support each other. Growing up an only child of a military mom, Shareka was always excited to meet and interact with Sacramento girl black club people. She viewed school as a great opportunity to make new friends. That gift of gab and desire to connect with others led her to obtain a BA in Psychology from Sacramento State University.
She is passionate about investing in and empowering women. In addition to formal education, Shareka counts her time growing up in and traveling around Europe with her mother, as one of the most formative aspects of her outlook on life. Shareka has over 25 years of experience in the Property Management field.
A pivotal transfer from Scottsdale, AZ to the bay area led to her work for top ranked Real Estate Investment Trusts and development companies. Shareka discovered the diversity of opportunities within the industry as she led teams through renovation projects, a redevelopment project in Jack London Square, and several multifamily residential lease ups in a variety of markets.
Shareka counts resilience and a positive attitude as key components to achievement in business.
Shareka le a team of 65 hard-working people that have been nationally recognized 13 years in a row as customer service leaders in their industry. Organizing fun and interesting company events for a multitude of personalities is nothing new for Shareka. In addition to planning corporate events, she is the go-to-person for trip and restaurant advice amongst her friends and family.
Can anyone say champagne on a beer budget?! Shareka is a believer in Christ, wife to her best friend, and proud mama of two loving, smart, young men who make her proud every day. Hailing from a family full of women six aunts and no biological unclesShareka believes the sense of community that comes from being around black women is powerful and unparalleled. Shareka is excited about the opportunity to connect with and curate events for black women who have unique backgrounds and experiences.
